Miss Sherry Li and Miss Glen Xu, two music teachers, served as directors for the Lower and Upper School respectively. They led the dance and music training for the three ‘teams’ in the production.
Miss June Sheng, a Chinese teacher from Upper School, acted as the overall stage director, overseeing the design and production of the entire stage. Teachers from different subjects in both the Lower School and Upper School enthusiastically contributed to music control and stage assistance.
Two pupils from Upper School, Jerry Zhang and Lico Li, served as assistant directors for the musical, responsible for student dance training and organizing student activities.
Jerry Zhang recalled the initial moments of ‘BOTS’ in March with mixed emotions.
Usually, Big musical take one to six months to prepare, but for Bots, we only have less than three months to prepare from March to May this year. The biggest challenge among them is to struggle with limited time, including teaching student movements and completing props within a limited time. Because we are not a professional art performance school, there are also many conflicts in our time arrangements. But for the best performance, students need to arrange their time reasonably and complete their tasks as efficiently as possible without affecting their learning. But in the end, we managed to accomplish this seemingly impossible task.

In the beginning, not every companion is familiar, some of the students are shyer and more introverted. As their teacher, we become a team with our students. we make new friends with each other and gain more help. It is the strength of the team that allows us to accomplish this project. This experience fosters confidence and teamwork and develops skills in problem-solving and decision-making.
The Theater·
Playing Day
The Performance and Arts Center was the busiest place in the entire school on that day. Everyone was nervously and orderly preparing for the show.
At the entrance of the theater, the boys were busy pasting photos on the backdrop paper. These were the moments of collaboration, rehearsal, discussions, and collisions from the past three months. Each frame of these images played like a film in everyone's mind.
Although the musical was scheduled for the afternoon, the actors started preparing their hair and makeup early in the morning backstage. When the teachers were overwhelmed, the senior girls willingly lent a helping hand, demonstrating excellent teamwork.
The stage management team and props team were bustling around behind the scenes and on stage. It's worth mentioning that all the stage arrangements in this visual extravaganza were personally made by the students and teachers. From mechanical doors, robot armors, spray-painted graffiti, to the surrounding T-shirts, they all achieved perfection.
The Curtain Falls·
Each Child Shines Brightly
After two days of successful charity performances, the applause, songs, laughter, and cheers linger in the air. Parents, teachers, classmates, and enthusiastic individuals from outside the school actively supported the event, and all the funds raised from the performance will be fully donated to the Kunpeng Fire and Rescue Foundation in Hangzhou.

Mr Tig Mooney, the Excuetive Head, and the parents of actors all spoke highly of the performance of pupils on stage.
During the finale of the musical, the casting students took the stage and delivered speeches in both Chinese and English, expressing their gratitude for the collective efforts of their older and younger classmates, as well as the tireless dedication of their teachers. They acknowledged the small yet significant help they received from one another.

Jerry Zhang, felt very satisfied with the conclusion of the performance. They aimed to convey the positive energy of ‘mutual assistance, unity, and cooperation leading to mutual success’ to the audience, and they had indeed achieved it.
We feel very proud, and it is a great honor for us to see the works that us and my teammates have put in effort and expectations respected and praised. After seeing the teachers tearfully after the performance, we were very touched, and there was also a sense of reluctance to part. Well, I’m goanna say, ‘Last but not least’.
On the stage, we see children shining brightly; through the stage, we aim to let the light shine into the hearts of children. This is the pursuit of theatrical education at WASHZ.
Through Drama Learning, Children can improve their expression and creativity thinking ability. They can express themselves using different facial expressions, tones and voices, and body language. This is a more freedom way to explore themself.
Everyone is unique with a different personality. This drama learning experience helps us to build a strong bond between us. Everyone shows their uniqueness in this group. We communicate with and understand others in new ways. We developed our tolerance and empathy.
